2025 Annual Convention Recap

The 2025 KAIA Annual Convention took place from February 3-5 at the Hyatt Regency in Wichita, KS, bringing together a record-breaking 652 attendees for three days of education, networking, and industry recognition. With 21 educational sessions, an inspiring keynote, and a sold-out trade show featuring 84 booths, this year's event set a new standard for excellence.

This year’s theme, “Rise to the Challenge,” encouraged attendees to embrace change, tackle industry challenges head-on, and strive for continuous improvement. The theme resonated throughout the sessions and events, reinforcing the resilience and innovation within the Kansas insurance community.

 

Networking & Special Events

The convention was packed with opportunities for attendees to connect, learn, and celebrate. Some of the standout events included:

  • Welcome Reception & Trade Show – A dynamic kickoff to the convention with exhibitors showcasing the latest industry solutions.
  • Beer Olympics – Sponsored by the Young Agents of Kansas (YAK), this high-energy event brought fun and camaraderie to the convention.
  • New Networking Receptions – Three new receptions provided targeted networking opportunities:
    • InsurPac & Past Presidents’ Reception
    • First-Time Attendee & New Member Reception
    • Women in Insurance Reception
  • Closing Night Party – A memorable celebration to cap off an incredible convention experience.

 

Keynote Speaker: Kevin Brown

Kevin Brown, the keynote speaker, left a lasting impact on attendees with his session, “The Hero Effect.” His heartfelt and motivational presentation had the audience both laughing and in tears as he shared powerful stories and actionable strategies for making a positive difference both personally and professionally.

 

Industry Award Winners

KAIA recognized outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to the industry. Congratulations to this year’s award winners:

  • Agent of the Year: Scott Strickland, CommunityAmerica Insurance Agency, LLC
  • Distinguished Service Award: Bob Fee, Fee Insurance Group
  • Company Rep of the Year: Larry Malm, Nationwide Insurance
  • Outstanding Young Agent: Bryce Burdiek, SBS Insurance Agency
  • Outstanding Account Manager: Rhonda Imel, Iron Insurance Partners

KAIA CEO Dave Hulcher expressed his admiration for this year’s honorees, stating, “The Kansas insurance industry is filled with exceptional talent and dedication. This year’s award winners exemplify the highest standards of professionalism, service, and leadership. We are proud to recognize their contributions and the positive impact they have on our industry and communities.”

 

Installation of KAIA Officers

During the convention, KAIA welcomed its new leadership team for 2025. Angela Ripley, IIABA Chair-Elect, officiated the installation and provided insights on national industry initiatives. The 2025 KAIA officers are:

The 2025 KAIA Annual Convention exceeded expectations, offering attendees valuable insights, meaningful connections, and well-deserved recognition of industry excellence. As we reflect on this incredible event, we are already looking forward to another outstanding gathering next year.
